THE US- CHINA ECONOMIC DECOUPLING By Renee Pabari | April 17, 2025 China and USA- two of the world's most powerful and influential economies, shared wonderful trade relations, but are now rapidly unraveling their trade ties. With high import duties, tariffs , stalling investments, China and USA are slowly heading towards what we call an Economic Decoupling. The United States levied broad taxes on Chinese goods in early 2025; some of these duties reached an astounding 145%. This action was a component of a larger plan to safeguard domestic businesses and thwart China's expanding influence. As a result, China cut imports and aggressively increased commerce with nations in Asia, Africa, and Latin America, turning away from the U.S. market. Both countries are making a concerted effort to minimize their reliance on one another in a variety of sectors, from energy and finance to semiconductors and artificial intelligence.
